Job Description
Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Provide advanced critical care nursing in a dynamic ICU environment serving a Level 1 Trauma designated teaching hospital. This role offers the opportunity to utilize specialized skills across multiple ICU units including Medical, Surgical Trauma, Neuro, Cardiovascular, and Progressive Care Units. The position is a contract assignment based in Macon, GA, with a 12-hour shift schedule offering a balance of day and night rotations and weekend coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients with varied diagnoses in ICU settings.
• Manage complex patient needs including tracheostomy care, chest tube maintenance, and intravenous therapies.
• Administer and titrate vasoactive and sedation drips such as insulin, heparin, narcotics, and cardiac medications.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including charge nurses, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists.
• Utilize electronic medical record systems (EPIC) effectively for documentation and patient monitoring.
• Float across medical and telemetry units as needed, demonstrating adaptability in diverse care settings.
• Participate in a structured orientation including educational modules and department-specific training.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years ICU RN experience required; first-time travelers accepted.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification required; CCRN preferred.
• Competency in EKG interpretation will be assessed during onboarding.
• Proven skills in critical care interventions such as PIV starts, blood glucose monitoring, and chest tube management.
• Ability to work effectively within team-oriented, fast-paced clinical environments.
Schedule and Shift Details:
• 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM).
• Weekend rotation averages 5-6 shifts per 12-shift cycle.
• Holiday coverage includes mandatory shifts on major holidays.
• No on-call responsibilities.
• Time off requests require managerial approval.
