Job Description
Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A registered nurse with specialized experience in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) settings is needed to deliver high-quality patient care in Staten Island, NY. This contract opportunity offers a dynamic environment where proficiency in critical care nursing and advanced certifications are essential to support critically ill patients and trauma cases effectively.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from an accredited institution
• Active RN license eligible for New York State or by reciprocity
• Minimum of 3 years ICU nursing experience preferred
• Required certifications: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Preferred certifications: Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC)
• Skilled in managing patients with External Ventricular Drain (EVD), multiple medication drips, and use of Hemosphere Flotrac
• Experience in trauma care with variable severity levels
• Competent in patient assessments using CAM, CPOT, and RASS scales
• Knowledgeable in hypothermia treatment protocols and pleurevac chest tube drainage care
• Proficient with Allscripts Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Adherence to strict isolation precautions and infection control standards
• Familiarity with Patient-Controlled Analgesia (PCA) pump operation
Responsibilities:
• Deliver comprehensive nursing assessments and care interventions consistent with ICU standards
• Manage complex trauma and neurocritical care patients with accuracy and efficiency
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to implement individualized care plans
• Maintain compliance with hospital standard operating procedures and critical care practices
• Ensure meticulous documentation and utilize EMR systems to track patient data securely
Schedule and Hours:
• Night shift: 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Guaranteed minimum of 34.5 hours per week
