The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as an Infection Control Registered Nurse at the Montana Veterans' Home. This position has a $7,500 incentive bonus for eligible employees. The Montana Veterans' Home (MVH) located in Columbia Falls, Montana, is a Medicare/Medicaid and Veterans' Administration certified facility with 105 intermediate/skilled-care beds and 12 domiciliary beds. The nursing facility includes a 15-bed Dementia Care unit. MVH has been providing services to Veterans since 1896. The Montana Veterans' Home is located next to the Flathead River just minutes away from Glacier National Park. A large pavilion, walking paths and protected courtyards provide ample opportunities for outdoor access. The facility offers individual and group activities, spiritual services, support group services and social services. The skilled and rehabilitative services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and dietitian services. Job Overview: This position provides nursing care to ensure veterans are safe and healthy. The responsibilities include: 1) Development and implementation of the Infection Prevention Program including policies and procedures regarding communicable disease, infection control, isolation procedures, immunization program for both residents and staff, and Employee Health; 2) Assessing, planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care for residents; 3) Administering prescribed medications and treatments; and 4) Providing guidance and assistance to LPNs and CNAs as necessary. Skills with diagnostic instruments such as glucometer, oxygen equipment, electrocardiography. Effective written and oral communication skills. Ability to maintain resident confidentiality and comply with protected health information. Ability to demonstrate compassion and patience. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): Current Montana RN License. Two years' experience as an RN. At least one year geriatric nursing experience preferred. Other equivalent combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
