Registered Nurse – Infusion Oncology
Location: Webster, TX 77598
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong background in infusion and oncology care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment, patient advocacy, and proficiency in chemotherapy administration. This role involves providing safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care to patients undergoing infusion therapy in a Cancer Center setting.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and implement individualized patient care based on nursing theory and physician orders.
• Perform comprehensive assessments, including monitoring for chemotherapy toxicities, medication side effects, and overall well-being.
• Review lab values and assess treatment toxicity prior to medication administration.
• Accurately administer chemotherapy and other medications via IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and oral routes.
• Start peripheral IVs and access central venous access devices (CVADs).
• Provide patient education on disease processes, medications, and symptom management (verbal and written).
• Document patient care accurately and timely in the EMR (Epic experience preferred).
• Respond promptly to patient emergencies within the Cancer Center.
• Maintain collaborative relationships with healthcare team members.
• Ensure compliance with policies regarding informed consent, advanced directives, and patient rights.
• Complete clinical logs and ensure accurate charge documentation.
• Pursue ongoing professional development and maintain competency in practice.
Required Qualifications
• Graduate from an approved RN program.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years clinical RN experience (including 2 years in infusion, oncology, or related field).
• Chemotherapy administration experience.
• Valid and current Texas RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association).
• Completion of ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Course within 3 months of employment.
• Proficiency with EMRs (Epic preferred).
• Experience with CVADs and port-a-caths.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
