Infusion Registered Nurse (Float)
Position with Maryland Oncology Hematology, providing oncology nursing care in the Hampton, Newport News, and Williamsburg areas.

Responsibilities
• Administers chemotherapy, hydration, and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician.
• Assesses and monitors therapy of patients using appropriate technical skills under the direction and supervision of a physician.
• Assesses patients for changes in condition, including abnormal labs, imaging, and drug reactions; initiates appropriate action.
• Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports, and maintains central venous access devices and alternate delivering systems.
• Maintains efficient and appropriate patient flow.
• Provides phone triage as assigned.
• Documents all elements of care.
• Serves as a resource to the Medical Assistants.
• Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician or advanced practice provider.
• Assesses patient and family needs.
Qualifications
• Graduate from an accredited professional nursing education program; BSN preferred.
• Oncology experience strongly preferred.
• Current RN state license required.
• Current BCLS certification required.
• OCN certification preferred.
• Willingness to travel between offices as needed.
Work Environment
The work environment is typical for an oncology/hematology clinic. Employees may be exposed to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and chemotherapeutic agents.
Physical Demands
Requires full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, standing and walking for extensive periods, and occasional lifting of items up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range required.
