Purpose Statement
Home infusion therapy (HIT) allows patients to receive their infusion treatments in the comfort of their own homes as well as in various healthcare settings such as nursing homes and outpatient clinics. This approach promotes patient autonomy and enhances the overall care experience.
As an Infusion Therapy Registered Nurse, you play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care specifically to adult patients needing tailored infusion therapy. Your responsibilities will include administering a range of therapies, such as IVIG, monoclonal antibodies, enzyme replacement, and clotting factors, using various administration techniques. This role requires both clinical expertise and a compassionate approach to patient care.
This position reports directly to the Area Director of Infusion Services.
Required Education and Experience
• Current and valid RN license.
• A minimum of 3 years nursing experience.
• Strong IV skills and a genuine passion for patient care.
• Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities.
• Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a home care environment.
• Proficient in electronic health record (EHR) documentation.
• Success in building a dedicated caseload of satisfied patients.
• Experience in critical care settings is preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience in hospital infusion therapy; home infusion therapy experience is a plus.
• Certification in infusion therapy (CRNI) is advantageous.
• Preferred expertise in pediatrics and adult medical care.
Responsibilities
• Administer infusion therapies, including IVIG, monoclonal antibodies, enzyme replacement, and clotting factors according to physician orders and established protocols.
• Carefully assess and monitor patients throughout the infusion process to ensure their safety and the effectiveness of the treatment.
• Provide education to patients and their families concerning infusion therapy procedures, potential side effects, and care practices.
• Collaborate with physicians, pharmacists, and healthcare teams to create and execute patient care plans.
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, taking into account both physical and psychosocial factors to provide personalized care.
• Document all patient care activities, treatment plans, and outcomes accurately and in a timely manner.
• Engage in ongoing professional development to remain updated on the latest industry trends, guidelines, and best practices.
• Perform other duties as required.
