POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to provide exceptional patient-centered care within our Inpatient Adolescent Unit. In this role, you will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of adolescents, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team and respond quickly to changes in patient conditions, demonstrating your commitment to high-quality care.

Qualifications:
• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a current RN license in Connecticut.
• Trained in de-escalation techniques, certification required within the orientation period.
• Must obtain RQI certification within three months of hire and maintain clinical competency.
Competencies:
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to act decisively, including utilizing patient restraint when necessary during emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct thorough assessments and reassessments of patients’ physical and psychosocial needs.
• Evaluate and manage pain effectively, educating patients and families on pain management strategies.
• Develop and revise individualized treatment plans in collaboration with patients and their families.
• Administer medications accurately, adhering to the seven medication rights, and demonstrating knowledge of psychotropic drugs.
• Ensure patient safety in all aspects of care and promote positive outcomes.
• Document nursing processes and patient responses in a timely manner.
• Demonstrate flexibility and critical thinking skills in high-pressure situations.
• Create teaching plans to address identified patient and family learning needs.
• Engage in professional growth, serving as a role model and mentor to colleagues.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for all patients.
• Utilize clinical expertise and empathy to build meaningful relationships with patients.
• Apply psychological and physical management techniques effectively during crises.
• Participate in emergency response codes and continuing education trainings.
• Set clear boundaries with patients while fostering a respectful relationship.
• Collaborate with the treatment team to ensure holistic care for patients.
• Provide psychotherapeutic treatments and lead educational groups.
