The Greater Manchester Region employs approximately 2,500 individuals and includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249-bed community hospital, Rockville General, a 102-bed facility, and a large multispecialty provider group serving a diverse population of 300,000 across 19 towns.
POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Registered Nurse, you will utilize the nursing process to deliver exceptional patient-centered care. Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, you will respond swiftly and accurately to changes in patient conditions while ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
• Graduate of an accredited Nursing program and a current Registered Nurse license in Connecticut.
• Trained in de-escalation techniques, obtaining certification during orientation.
• Must earn RQI certification within three months of hire and maintain competency throughout employment.
COMPETENCIES:
• Proficient communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to take swift action, including patient restraint during emergencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Conduct thorough assessments and reassessments of patients' conditions, covering psychosocial, physical, educational, and cultural aspects.
• Evaluate and manage pain effectively while educating patients and families about pain management strategies.
• Develop, revise, and evaluate individualized treatment plans based on patient responses.
• Adhere to medication administration rights to minimize errors, demonstrating knowledge of psychotropic medications and appropriate dosages.
• Deliver all nursing care within a patient safety-focused environment, promoting positive outcomes.
• Document nursing processes and patient responses in a timely manner.
• Exhibit flexibility and organizational skills under stress while utilizing sound judgment in priority setting.
• Create teaching plans based on patient needs and evaluate learning effectiveness, involving family members where appropriate.
• Practice autonomously, following evidence-based standards while pursuing personal and professional growth.
• Maintain a safe therapeutic environment supported by feedback and observation from peers and supervisors.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise and interpersonal warmth, ensuring sensitivity to the privacy of psychiatric patients.
• Utilize psychological and physical strategies to manage potentially violent situations effectively.
• Contribute to Early Response codes and participate in PMT refresher training sessions.
• Set appropriate limits with patients and maintain professional boundaries.
• Communicate and collaborate with all treatment team members to address patient needs effectively.
• Provide psychotherapeutic treatment and engage in educational and therapeutic group sessions.
