The Greater Manchester Region serves approximately 300,000 residents through Manchester Memorial Hospital, a community hospital with 249 beds, Rockville General Hospital with 102 beds, and a large multispecialty provider group.
Position Summary:
As a Registered Nurse in the Inpatient Young Adult Unit, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process. You’ll participate in coordinating care within an interdisciplinary team and will respond swiftly and effectively to changes in patient conditions. You will maintain a safe and structured environment, implementing age-specific behavioral management practices and creating a compassionate atmosphere through our Core Values of Teamwork, Respect, and Communication.
Qualifications:
• Graduation from an accredited Nursing program and current Registered Nurse license in Connecticut.
• Training in de-escalation techniques and certification during the onboarding process.
• Obtain RQI certification within three months of hire and maintain clinical competency.
Competencies:
• Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to respond efficiently during patient emergencies, including the use of restraint when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive assessments of patient needs, addressing psychosocial, physical, and cultural aspects.
• Evaluate and manage pain, educating patients and families on pain management strategies.
• Develop, revise, and assess individualized treatment plans involving patient and family input.
• Administer medications safely and accurately, with knowledge of psychotropic drugs and their appropriateness.
• Deliver patient care in a safe environment, promoting positive outcomes.
• Document nursing processes and care responses effectively and timely.
• Demonstrate flexibility and organizational skills while managing stressful situations.
• Create teaching plans based on learning needs and evaluate their effectiveness with family participation.
• Practice autonomously with evidence-based standards and contribute to the professional development of peers.
• Maintain a therapeutic environment and uphold patients' privacy needs.
• Use psychological and physical management techniques effectively during crisis situations.
• Participate in emergency response codes and attend refresher training sessions.
• Set appropriate limits and maintain professional boundaries with patients.
• Collaborate with the treatment team to address the comprehensive needs of patients.
• Provide psychotherapeutic treatment and lead educational and therapy groups.
