Responsibilities
Perform and document intake of patient in accordance with established protocols. Notify RN/clinician and act on priority conditions. Assist clinician with scribing and documentation as needed. Serve as a contact for outside physician offices,
pharmacies, transportation, and medical facilities. Assist with appointment scheduling and/or refer patients to the appropriate clinic. Give discharge instructions to patient. Float as LPN in other clinics as assigned.
Collect lab specimens, administer, and document procedures, treatments, medications, and immunizations as ordered. Monitor patient for potential side effects and allergic reactions and report to RN/clinician. Assist health professionals with
exams, procedures, and treatments. Clean exam table and instruments after use in accordance with Infection Control standards. Assist in maintaining medications/supply stock, emergency box, and oxygen supply. Maintain orderly work areas, records, and logs as required.
Assist with patient needs between visits. Triage patient phone calls and provide in-basket management support for clinicians. Notify patients of test results and other follow-ups needed. Manage patient expectations and is able to resolve patient concerns independently. Schedule diagnostic testing and obtain prior authorizations as needed. Assist with traces and regulatory readiness for quality and patient care. Participate in special projects. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• Licensed as a practical nurse in accordance with Chapter 464, Florida Statutes, or eligible to practice nursing in accordance with Section 210, Florida Administrative Code.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification issued by a certifying agency, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
• Post-job offer, but prior to hire, requirements:
• Documentation of current PPD (Purified Protein Derivative) test as performed by a qualified physician, reporting negative results within the past six months.
• Documentation of physical examination completed by a qualified healthcare provider/physician within the past six months
• Within 30 days of hire requirements:
• Documentation of Tetanus immunization within 10 years.
• Documentation of Hepatitis B vaccine or positive antibody titer.
Preferred Qualifications
• 2-year degree/Associate's degree.
• Experience with applicable computer software and programs, such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Electronic Health Records, or comparable programs.
• Experience demonstrating effective customer service skills.
• Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
• Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
• Experience utilizing problem solving skills.
• Experience maintaining accurate records and retrieving files from active/archive sources.
• Knowledge of medical resources and terminology.
