Job Description The Licensed Practical Nurse, under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse, assists in the delivery of patient care through the use of the Nursing Process. Job Responsibility Administers nursing care to designated patients under the direction and Supervision of a Registered Nurse. Performs patient treatment activities and procedures under the supervision of a Registered Professional Nurse. Works as supportive and productive member of patient care team under the supervision of an RN. Is responsible and accountable for personal conduct while on duty. Actively participates in unit related activities and own personal growth. Adheres to the standards of nursing care and the policies and procedures. Assists in admitting, discharging and transferring patients. Maintains an attractive and comfortable environment for patients with special consiferation to cleanliness of room, ventilation and lighting. Provides for patient safety and safe care of valuables. Participates in team conferences, development of nursing care plans, and team and shift reports. Documents shift report in Report Book, and / or provides report to incoming shift. Assists with restorative nursing care of patients, and supervises aides in provision of care. Documents unusual occurrences. Assists the patients in performing activities of daily living to their maximum potential. Participates in fire prevention and safety programs. Ensures principals of infection control are observed. Assesses special needs of patients in regard to age-related changes and altars care provided to them accordingly. Checks floor supplies and requests supplies as needed. Makes rounds periodically during the shift to ensure safety of patients and to continuously check on critical and more ill patients. Participates in implementing a plan of care for the patients based on assessments and goals established on admission. Provides LPN services as needed to assigned patient populations. May assume role of Charge Nurse as necessary; within the scope of LPN practice Provides LPN services as needed to assigned patient populations Performs related duties, as required. *ADA Essential Functions Job Qualification High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Graduate from an accredited school of Practical Nursing, required. Either eligible for licensure or currently licensed as a Practical Nurse in the State of New York Maintains physical and emotional capability to perform all work related duties and position responsibilities. Ability to work well under pressure and under direct supervision.
