Job Title: License Vocational NurseReports To: Center Manager Summary:The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is clinically responsible for all patients in a department. He/she/they delegate(s) tasks to ancillary back-office staff based on scope of practice, and coordinates care with the provider(s). Exer Core Responsibilities: Has a positive work ethic and inspires others; models genuine, caring, and friendly behaviorsDemonstrates effective verbal and written communication that is clear, well-organized, and understanding of audience needsThrough a genuinely positive style of communication, makes each patient feel informed and understoodIs an effective team player who contributes valuable ideas and feedback, and can be counted on to meet commitmentsIs able to keep up with the workflow of the Exer environment; faces tasks and challenges with energy and passionPursues activities with focus and drive, defines work in terms of success, and can be counted on to complete goalsAdherence to standards of business conduct and compliance Major Responsibilities: Prioritizes patient safety and patient satisfaction; maintains awareness of dignity, comfort, and safety needs of patientAlways provides excellent patient care; practices strong nursing autonomy in patient care while coordinating care with an ED MDTriages patients while obtaining vital signs, a thorough history, and a nursing assessmentExplains procedures and treatments to patient to gain cooperation and understanding, and reduce apprehensionAdministers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniquesDelegates within scope-of-practice to other clinical staff; manages patient flow within the center by effectively communicating with all disciplinesPrepares equipment and aids provider during treatment and examination of patientObserves patient, records significant conditions and reactions; notifies provider of patient condition as well as any changes to it, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidentsResponds to life saving situations according to nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols; must be comfortable running “codes”Provides direct patient care interventions according to scope of practice, and as ordered by the providerInitiates a thorough patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by the provider and/or policy, including patient and family instructionProvides direct patient care interventions according to scope of practice, and as ordered by the providerMaintains, checks, and utilizes a variety of laboratory and testing equipmentFollows up with all patients to ensure good outcomes; assists with the implementation of further treatment, as necessaryAdheres to standard and disease-specific precautions, practices proper handwashing and utilization of personal protective equipmentMaintains a clean and orderly environmentParticipates in quality improvement activitiesParticipates in the monitoring of inventory control and suppliesIs mindful of procedure and equipment costs and is a steward for the company Requirements:Must have a current and unrestricted License Vocational Nurse DiplomaMust have at least 1 year of prior clinical experienceMust be IV/Phlebotomy certifiedMust be comfortable with IV administration, phlebotomy, processing labs (blood and urine), injections, ear lavage, and performing EKGsMust be BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifiedMust possess effective written and verbal communication skillsMust provide weekend coverage; 3-4 Saturdays or Sundays per month Working Conditions:
Center-Based. Requires working in a clinical setting. The noise level is moderate and there is a potential for exposure to infectious diseases and blood-borne pathogens. The ability to stand and sit for hours at a time, (with some bending and stooping), ability to use manual dexterity in relation to clinical requirements, and ability to lift 50 lbs.
