• *Facility is Long Term Care**
The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six different divisions including hospital level inpatient psychiatric care for both civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. As the largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 New Mexicans every day, along with 400 outpatient clients a month. There are over 600 employees across all the divisions of NMBHI to ensure high-quality treatment and care is delivered.

Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities for providing direct or indirect professional nursing services in a variety of settings: Clinic, Community Health, Long-Term Care, Obstetrics, Behavioral Health, Rehabilitation, Acute Care, and Forensic Services. This includes providing nursing assessments, planning, interventions, evaluations, health related education, case management, and execution of the medical regime including administering medications and treatments prescribed, implementation or regulation of programs by any person authorized as prescribed by state law
How does it get done?
Provides routine registered nursing care, orientation and training to nursing personnel.
Completes nursing history and initial assessment on all patients admitted.
May initiate discharge paperwork for planned admissions and ensure clients¿ belongings are collected.
May review and co-sign LPN assessments on all patients.

Minimum Qualification
Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico, or a Graduate Nurse with a ¿permit-to-practice¿.

1. SAFETY SENSITIVE POSITIONS--This position ls designated as safely sensitive. Employment Is subject to pre-employment and random testing. In accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules, and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment ls subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results.
2. CRIMINAL RECORDS BACKGROUND CHECK-Must successfully complete post offer pre-employment criminal records background check. Employment is conditional pending the results of criminal records background checks. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
Working Conditions
Working conditions at a long term care facility are typically fast-paced and demanding, requiring staff to provide continuous, hands on care to residents. Effective 01/01/2015, New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/ E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. Department is LTC.
