Position Overview:
As a Long Term Care Registered Nurse, you will play a critical role in delivering skilled nursing care to residents, in accordance with their established care plans and relevant regulations. You will lead and guide our ancillary staff to ensure effective and comprehensive care across our facility.
Main Responsibilities:
• Provide high-quality care to residents with acute, subacute, and chronic conditions while administering medications and treatments in line with established care standards.
• Supervise and support Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), ensuring effective workflow and care coordination. Utilize the nursing process for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, and communicate significant changes to physician as needed.
• Manage medication inventory, ensuring accurate distribution according to the five rights of medication administration, and monitor residents for side effects.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and guardians about residents' conditions and needs, providing education and guidance as required.
• Implement preventive measures related to resident care, including skin assessments and appropriate positioning strategies.
• Respond effectively to alarms and implement restraint alternatives to ensure resident safety.
• Deliver compassionate end-of-life care, fulfilling the hygiene, comfort, and emotional needs of residents and their families.
• Maintain a high level of alertness and a safe working environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned, including possible point-of-care testing.
Qualifications:
• Graduate from an accredited nursing school or equivalent educational program.
• No prior experience required.
Physical Requirements:
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Ability to stand and walk frequently.
• Capable of lifting/carrying 0-25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Frequent visual and auditory skills to monitor residents and respond to alarms.
• Occasional bending, kneeling, and moving patients as needed.
Certifications Required:
• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider certification (BLS HCP) from the American Heart Association.
• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the applicable state (Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, or Wisconsin).
Work Schedule: Day Shift (40 hours/week)
