Registered Nurse (RN General, Dialysis, Mental Health) - Mental Health Job Summary Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients within a correctional facility setting, specializing in mental health. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures. This role encompasses general nursing duties as well as specialized care for patients with mental health conditions. Key Responsibilities • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including physical and mental health evaluations. • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and medical orders. • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for therapeutic effects and adverse reactions. • Provide mental health support and crisis intervention to patients experiencing acute episodes. • Document patient care accurately and completely in accordance with established protocols. • Collaborate with physicians, psychiatrists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care. • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed. • Educate patients and their families (where applicable) about health conditions, medications, and treatment options. • Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff. • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures. • Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions. • Participate in team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. • Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Ohio. • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program. • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. • Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Registered Nurse. • Experience working with patients with mental health conditions. Preferred Qualifications • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). • Certification in psychiatric nursing (e.g., PMH-BC). • Experience working in a correctional setting. • Experience with electronic health records (EHR). • Knowledge of Dialysis procedures Skills & Competencies • Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Knowledge of mental health disorders and treatment modalities. • Proficiency in medication administration and monitoring. • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical principles. • Ability to handle stressful situations and de-escalate conflict. • Strong organizational and time management skills. • Basic computer skills.
