An opportunity is available for a skilled Registered Nurse to provide exceptional care within a 29-bed medical surgical/oncology unit. This role focuses on adult patients facing cancer, including medical and surgical cases, palliative care, and family education around oncological processes. The unit also handles urology and telemetry patients, offering a diverse clinical environment. Responsibilities: • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to medical, surgical, oncology, urology, and telemetry patients. • Administer blood products and chemotherapy (preferred). • Manage central line care, including draws and port maintenance. • Assist with bone marrow aspirations and pleurx chest tubes. • Operate PCA pumps and monitor patient responses. • Educate patients and families regarding oncology treatments and care plans. • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality patient outcomes. • Float within the scope of practice to meet unit needs as required. • Adhere to infection control policies, including flu vaccine compliance during specified seasons. Qualifications: • Minimum of 2 years nursing experience. • Current RN license in WV or compact state; pending RN licenses may be considered. • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. • Oncology Nursing Certification (ONCC/ONS) preferred but not mandatory. • Competence in telemetry monitoring, chemotherapy administration, and complex nursing interventions. • Ability to work a consistent schedule, including weekdays, every other weekend, and occasional floating. • Flexibility to accept either 36- or 48-hour contract options. Location Overview: Situated in Charleston, West Virginia, this role offers the chance to work at a Level IV Trauma Center and major teaching hospital. Staff enjoy free parking and a supportive work environment utilizing Cerner electronic charting systems. This position follows a contract format with guaranteed hours and a structured day shift schedule (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.).
