This opportunity is for a Registered Nurse specializing in trauma and surgical care, supporting an acute care Trauma Surgical Unit with a focus on interdisciplinary, patient-centered treatment. The role offers a contract position based in Tuscaloosa, AL, providing care primarily for trauma, orthopedic, and urology patients within a collaborative healthcare environment. Responsibilities: • Deliver nursing care on a 1:6 patient-to-nurse ratio, specializing in trauma, orthopedic, and urology care • Collaborate closely with family practice physicians, hospitalists, and surgical specialists to customize patient treatment plans • Float to other units and hospitals as needed, demonstrating flexibility in patient care settings • Work holidays as required and every other weekend, contributing to comprehensive patient coverage Qualifications: • Associate degree in Nursing required • Registered Nurse license in Alabama or Compact license (temporary licenses not accepted) • Valid AHA BLS or Red Cross certification • Minimum of 2 years’ nursing experience; 18 months considered if working under highest-level license, with at least 1 year in trauma/surgical specialty Schedule and Hours: • 36 or 48 hours per week, based on availability and facility needs • Holidays as required • Every other weekend scheduled This contract position provides an excellent platform to deepen expertise in trauma and surgical nursing within a supportive and dynamic healthcare setting.
