
Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) - Lexington, North Carolina in Lexington, NC
Job Description
Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A healthcare facility in Lexington, NC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with medical-surgical expertise to support a specialized unit on a contract basis. This position offers a dynamic clinical environment within a Level 1 Trauma and Academic Medical Center with advanced designations in Stroke and Chest Pain care.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of medical-surgical nursing experience required
• RN license with current BLS, ACLS certifications; NIH Stroke Scale certification preferred
• Proficient in patient assessment, critical thinking, autonomous practice within scope, and strong communication skills
• Experience managing tracheostomies, chest tubes, peripheral IV starts, pain control via PCA, surgical drains, wound care, and continuous infusions (e.g., Rituxan, thymoglobulin)
• Ability to advocate for patients and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
Responsibilities:
• Deliver direct patient care to renal/pancreatic transplant patients, oncologic surgical patients, and others with complex diagnoses
• Manage telemetry monitoring, medication administration, and clinical documentation using Epic EMR system
• Collaborate with CNAs, charge nurses, physicians, and other clinical staff to maintain patient safety and promote recovery
• Adhere to unit protocols and participate in required orientation and ongoing education
