
Medical-Surgical Nurse (RN) | Williston, Vermont in Williston, VT
Job Description
This role offers an opportunity to deliver skilled nursing care on a med-surg telemetry unit within a well-established healthcare environment. The position is based in Williston, VT, and is a contract assignment suited for experienced registered nurses with a solid background in telemetry.
Qualifications:
• Current RN license and at least 2 years of clinical nursing experience.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in med-surg telemetry or a similar specialty.
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and Telemetry Certification.
• Skilled in applying, interpreting, and responding to telemetry rhythms.
• Ability to perform peripheral IV insertion and NG tube placement is essential.
• Experience working with adult patient populations with diagnoses including post-op ortho, urology, GI, COPD, CHF, dementia, and end-of-life care.
• Comfortable collaborating in a multidisciplinary team setting, including RNs, LPNs, and nursing assistants.
• Reliable transportation recommended due to variable housing locations.
Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to a 51-bed tele unit using the Epic system for documentation.
• Collaborate with ancillary staff and participate in team care planning.
• Manage patient monitoring with equipment such as Sigma IV pumps, PCA pumps, cardiac monitors, and respond to telemetry findings.
• Participate in the units self-scheduling system with 12-hour shifts and occasional holiday coverage; no weekend obligations beyond every other weekend rotation.
• Assist with patient mobility, medication administration, and post-operative care.
• Adhere to professional dress code standards and hospital policies.
• Engage in ongoing orientation and education to ensure high-quality patient care.
