What You'll Be Doing
The Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the delivery of care. The professional nurse assumes the responsibility and accountability for the delegation of patient care to other members of the health care team, which may include coordination of services with rehabilitation staff to maximize the patient’s independence to return to their prior residence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Consults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
• Prepares, administers and records prescribed medications. Reports adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with the policy regarding medication administration by a licensed Registered Nurse.
• Educates patients on surgical procedures.
• Monitors and adjusts specialized equipment used on patients, and interprets and records electronic displays.
• Initiates corrective action whenever the patient displays adverse symptomatology.
• Provides bedside care for a wide variety of medical patients, including pre- and postsurgery patients.
• Initiates patient education plan, as prescribed by physician. Teaches patients and significant others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining: post-treatment home care needs.
• Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Responds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocol.
• Participates in discharge planning.
• Records all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate forms.
• Other duties as may be assigned.
What We're Looking For
• Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Must possess licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey
• Previous medical/surgical-oncology experience preferred.
• Completion of an arrhythmia course, BLS, ACLS( American Heart Association), and IV certification.
• Must demonstrate excellent customer service, communication, critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
