Description Are you ready to join a nursing unit that places an emphasis on teamwork while delivering specialized care to a neuroscience population? Look no further than 3G and its distinguished level-4 Epilepsy monitoring Unit (EMU). On 3G, you will honeyour skills working with lumbar drains, EMU protocols, telemetry, tracheostomies,gastrostomy tubes, heparin drips, IV antibiotics, and antiepileptics. • Number of Beds: 24 (11 of those beds are part of the EMU) • Patient population/typical diagnoses: epilepsy, ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, brain tumors, neuromuscular degenerative disorders, brain aneurysms, and non-epileptic seizures • Targeted Nurse-to-Patient Ratio:1:4 3G is the proud recipient of the Silver Beacon Award for Excellence and is an integral part of the hospital’s Joint Commission Certified Comprehensive Stroke Program.Moreover, our EMU is the sole inpatient continuous video EEG monitoring program in Georgia. Job Summary: Regarded as clinical expert and role model in application of the nursing process and evidence-based practice to manage the complex care needs of specific patient populations. Serves as a resource person to physicians, nurses, patients, and family members. Applies principles of adult learning to plan and conduct educational sessions to promote staff development, student competence, and positive patient/family outcomes. Role models expert communication skills to colleagues through example. Demonstrates foresight regarding the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes based on intuition and experience. Is recognized as an expert clinician and a leader within their area of specialty. Completes employee conference, risk management and unit management reports within specified time frames. Primary duties and responsibilities: • Staff and Preceptor Education/Development: • Applies principles of adult learning to plan and conduct educational sessions to promote staff development, student competence, and positive patient/family outcomes. • Demonstrates proficiency in teaching and precepting skills. • Facilitates development of unit preceptors including effective delegation and interpersonal skills. • Assists with the development of staff portfolios. • Assists the CNS and Unit Director to conduct annual educational needs assessment. • Based on needs assessments, assists CNS and UD to provide assurance that staff have opportunities to acquire necessary knowledge, skills and attitudes to fulfill role expectations. 8. Coordinates unit based clinical orientation program for new staff, students and preceptors. 9. Works with preceptors to individualizes unit orientation. 10 .Assists departmental or unit teams in the developing annual competency checklists. • Under direction of the CNS and Unit Director, assists with meeting the education and training needs of staff. • Assists with the development of clinical leadership and critical thinking skills in others. • Mentors new existing staff by sharing knowledge, skills and departmental processes. Operational, Quality, and Compliance: • Identifies the need for revision and evaluates the effectiveness of operational forms. • Provides and coordinates the resources needed within the unit to provide optimal patient outcomes. • Role models time management skills through example. • Ensures compliance and adherence with stated policies and procedures for the unit. • Remains informed of innovative clinical trends through bench marking and evidence-based practice. • Assumes a staff level leadership and resource role with the interdisciplinary team. • Contributes to evaluating the use of resources and to cost containment activities. 8 .Respects and maintains confidential information. Patient/Family Education and Communication: • Under direction of the CNS and UD, Integrates patient /family education activities into unit based staff development and continuing education programs. • Collaborates with management and patient/family advisory council to develop standardized teaching materials for patient and family learning needs. • Models effective therapeutic relationships with patients and families. • Effectively elicits integrates cultural beliefs and values from of patients and integrates these into overall patient management and education. • Utilizes patient and staff satisfaction feedback as a factor in designing refining and revising education programs. • Demonstrates and role models effective communication skills. Commitments: • Meets all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments. • Achieves points and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position. Qualifications: Minimum required: Education - Graduate of an accredited prelicensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Experience - 2 years of recent nursing experience AND a minimum of 2 years of experience in the area of concentration. Licensure - A valid, unencumbered Registered Nursing License approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing. Certification: • BLS certification • ACLS may be required for certain departments, post hire • Additional certifications may be required based on department and specialty • Must complete UNE criteria requirements within nine (9) months of promotion or hire, including completion of Enhancing your Communication HLC#6488. • If completing virtual care activities that may include multi-state practice, an active compact/multistate license (eNLC) is required within 60 days of hire. Employees in role prior to 11/09/2025 will have until their next renewal date to achieve compact status PLAN: • Meets all Clinical Nurse I Employee Commitments. • Completion of VIP or EBP Project. • Achieves points/electives and contact hours as defined in the PLAN (clinical lattice) point system to maintain position. • Completion of formal preceptor training workshop.
