
NICU Nurse (RN) | Kenner, Louisiana in Ama, LA
Job Description
This contract opportunity is for an experienced NICU Registered Nurse (RN) in Kenner, LA, providing specialized care within a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The role focuses on supporting critically ill newborns and requires strong clinical skills, advanced certifications, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neonates in a 16-bed NICU
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, initiating appropriate interventions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals
• Adhere to unit policies and protocols while maintaining accurate patient documentation
• Participate in emergency response teams as assigned by the unit manager during critical events
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
• Current RN license with proven NICU experience (minimum 2 years)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NRP required
• Prior NICU experience preferred; first-time travelers not accepted
• Ability to work night shifts, specifically 3 twelve-hour shifts (18:45 07:15)
• Comfortable with potential emergency team assignments requiring extended on-site presence
Schedule:
• Night shifts, 3x 12-hour (18:45 - 07:15)
• Weekend shifts every other weekend
