Job Description
An opportunity is available for a Registered Nurse with Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) expertise to provide specialized care in a pediatric and neonatal setting. This contract position is based in Whitefish, Montana, offering a unique chance to work within a dedicated unit featuring 12 Pediatric/PICU beds and 12 NICU beds. The role emphasizes working with infants and children facing a variety of health challenges such as gastrointestinal issues, feeding difficulties, prematurity, and respiratory conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to NICU and pediatric patients.
• Conduct neonatal and pediatric assessments, including NFPE and malnutrition evaluations.
• Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams including MDs, RNs, dietitians, respiratory therapists, and other support staff.
• Utilize EMR systems such as Meditech and unit-specific tools like Crib Notes.
• Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively using digital messaging platforms.
• Provide care in accordance with established protocols and support hospital initiatives.
• Flexibility to float to other inpatient units including adult care if required.
• Participate in departmental orientation and unit-specific training.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years inpatient clinical experience in Pediatric Acute Care and NICU settings.
• Active Registered Nurse license with NICU nursing credentials.
• Certification requirements include BLS; advanced certifications such as RD/RDN, CNSC, and Montana Nutritionist License are preferred.
• Experience with infant formulas, breast milk fortification, and enteral nutrition.
• Comfort with pediatric diagnoses including failure to thrive, TPN management, anemia, and respiratory conditions.
• Proficiency with electronic medical records, preferably Meditech.
Schedule and Work Environment:
• 5-day work week, 8-hour shifts from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
• No night shifts, weekend rotations, on-call duties, or holiday requirements.
• Scrub attire is flexible, allowing solid colors or business casual.
• Free parking available on-site.
• Schedule set on a monthly basis with some flexibility discussed with management.
