Indiana School For The Blind & Visually Impaired (ISBVI)
The School is nationally and internationally recognized for its excellence and best practices in educating children and young adults who are blind or have low vision. The School is a critical resource for Indiana’s children who are blind or have low vision and the teachers, parents, and caregivers who work with them. Every year, we educate hundreds of children and young adults ranging from 3 to 22 years old and living in all parts of Indiana, many of whom, due to severe or multiple disabilities, other schools in the state have difficulty serving or cannot serve.
Salary Statement
The salary for this position traditionally starts at $31.91/hr but may be commensurate with education or work experience.
A Day In The Life
Program Administration Support
• Prioritize and organize the daily care of patients/
• Make care assignments and assist in developing treatment plans in collaboration with other clinical staff.
• Direct support staff to coordinate workflow and communicate problems to unit supervisors.
• Complete required documentation of nursing notes, transfer forms, and other records to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
• Provide orientation and support to staff on the unit.
Program Management Support
• Provide ongoing assessment and documentation of individuals' physical and psychosocial status from admission to discharge to inform care decisions.
• Administer medications and treatments according to facility policies and procedures..
• Develop and implement nursing care plans for diagnosis or treatment plan changes to adapt to evolving needs.
• Complete medication administration supervision monitors and clinical observation notes for support staff.
• Educate individuals and family members regarding medication, procedures, and treatment goals and objectives.
• Respond and intervene in emergency situations and with agitated individuals to maintain safety and therapeutic environment.
• Ensure proper safety and infection control standards are met for the unit to protect staff and individuals.

• Proficiency in computer skills and ability to learn programs used in maintaining electronic medical records.
• Ability to use MS Office applications and electronic patient records.
Experience & Education
• Must possess an Associate or Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college.
• Must posses an active license to practice nursing in the State of Indiana as a Registered Nurse.
• Must hold and maintain CPR certification.
• Must stay current with behavioral intervention training applicable to the assigned setting.

Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports
This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
Benefits Of Employment With The State Of Indiana
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period.
