Job Description Nurses have the overall responsibility for the health care of their assigned unit(s). This role includes providing preventative health education, managing medications, treating minor illnesses and injuries, documenting care, and determining when campers or staff need additional medical attention through the Health Center, camp physician, local clinic, or EMS. Nurses collaborate closely with counselors, directors, and support staff to make sure all camper and staff health needs are met in a proactive, compassionate, and organized way. Must be licensed as an RN, LPN, or NP. Essential Job Functions • Review and follow standing orders and camp health care protocols. • Keep Health Centers stocked with appropriate medical supplies. • Stock and restock First Aid kits carried by counselors on out-of-camp activities. • Assist with Medication Administration training for staff. • Instruct counselors on Health Center procedures and daily medication administration. • Review incoming campers’ medical histories and health needs prior to arrival. • Check campers in on arrival day, including reviewing allergies, medications, health needs, basic assessments, and overseeing lice checks. • Reconcile medications brought to camp with physician orders and camp protocol. • Contact parents to clarify discrepancies in medical needs or medications. • Provide ongoing health care to campers and staff and determine when further evaluation is required. • Keep accurate, confidential records of all Health Center visits. • Store (under lock and key), distribute, and document all medications. • Pack medications for out-of-camp activities and instruct staff on proper administration and camper health needs. • Arrange transportation for campers requiring physician, dental, or other medical appointments. • File reports with the office for any camper seen at a clinic or emergency department. • Participate in daily cleaning and linen changes within the Health Center and bathrooms. • Follow camp protocols for timely communication with parents regarding health concerns. • Supervise and evaluate nurse aides assigned to your Health Center (if applicable). Salary • $1,100/week base salary • Additional $200/week (beginning after Week 2), paid upon successful completion of work dates as outlined in your offer letter Room & Board Enjoy provided housing and meals in the stunning Estes Park area. Housing varies by position and includes shared living spaces that foster connection and community among staff. Season & Dates Our summer camp serves over 1,200 campers annually, and we offer flexible options for nurses: • 9-week: June 6 – August 9 • 4-week (early summer): June 6 – July 12 • 4-week (late summer): July 10 – August 9 All positions include room and board, with opportunities for meaningful work in a supportive, collaborative camp health care environment.
