Nurse Abstractor – Neurosurgery Clinic
- Strategic Scheduling & Planning: Assess and develop comprehensive scheduling plans for neurosurgical procedures. Ensure patients are scheduled with the appropriate provider, at the correct location, and at the optimal day and time.
- Safety & Resource Evaluation: Review each scheduling plan with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the safest environment for the patient. Evaluate the clinical resources necessary to perform designated procedures safely.
- Clinical Abstraction: Review and summarize pertinent medical records to identify risk factors and ensure all necessary clinical data is available for the care team prior to procedures.
- Process Improvement: Regularly participate in the evaluation and refinement of scheduling processes to enhance service excellence and patient safety standards.
- Leadership & Training: Delegate tasks appropriately to support staff and oversee the training and orientation of new employees within the department once their initial orientation is complete.
- Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Maintain clear communication with surgeons, inpatient teams, and various SLHS departments to facilitate seamless care transitions.
- Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
- Skills: Demonstrated expertise in clinical abstraction, advanced critical thinking, and professional communication.
- Experience: Previous experience in neurosurgery, surgical scheduling, or clinical data abstraction is highly preferred.
