Minimum requirement of 72 hours per 3 months. Please Note: This is a pool, as needed position. A novice, new graduate of a nursing assistant training program or a nursing assistant who has less than 6 months experience as a CNA in a setting outside of acute care. The Nursing Assistant Resident will work with a CNA preceptor to deliver care and assist patients with activities of daily living, provide basic nursing care task to patients, and assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment. Effectively interacts with patient, significant others, and other health team members, while maintaining professionalism. Care provided is under the direction and supervision of the Registered Nurse in charge of the patient and/or unit. The Residency Program includes classroom as well as direct clinical experiences.Position Reports To: Nurse Manager/Director of program Essential Functions Perform related assignments and tasks as requested to promote positive visitor, family, and staff relations.Collaboratively works with CNA preceptor and patients primary care RN to provide high quality care. Provides high quality patient care in a caring and compassionate manor. Reports any observed change in patient condition or behavior promptly to the nurse. Ensures are patient care tasks are completed timely.Performs or assists with duties as outlined in the CNA Scope of Practice under the direction of the Registered Nurse and collaboration of CNA preceptor.Demonstrates competence in providing morning, evening, and general care routines in accordance with established nursing care procedure to ensure patients' comfort and safety.Takes and records vital signs, height, weight, intake and output, and other measurements as applicable, in an accurate and timely manner. Reports all variations from normal to the RN in charge of the patient.Obtains finger stick blood glucose as delegated by the RN unless working in an area where this is prohibited.Prepares patients for meals, assists in feeding patients (if necessary), distributes fresh water and other nourishment according to patients' needs.Assists patients with elimination needs.Ambulates/Transfers patients using proper body mechanics and patient safety techniques.Assists nurse in treatment procedures as needed.Documents accurately and timely in the patient medical record.Maintains a safe and sanitary environment. Demonstrates knowledge of safety policies and procedures; knows/practices proper body mechanics.Demonstrates knowledge of infection control and isolation procedures and policies.Participates in hospital emergency and disaster drillsActively participates in the learning process, able to incorporate learned tasks and experience to ensure high quality patient care.Participates in evaluation/improvement processes throughout the Residency. Assumes responsibility for own professional development and personal growth.Adheres to Confluence Health and Central Washington Hospital policies and unit standards as applicable.Required to maintain active Basic Life Support (CPR) certification.Other duties as assigned Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times. Qualifications Required:High School Diploma or GEDGraduate of an accredited nursing assistant programObtain Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure within 90 days of hire to the residencySuccessful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant Exam within 14 days of Residency Program start date.Eligible to obtain Medical Assistant: Registered certification where applicable (application completed during the hiring process).Must possess basic Must possess basic computer skills related to Windows navigation, mouse usage, keyboarding, email communication and password management.Completion of BLS certification within first 30 days of residency.
