About the Job: Nurse Consultant
You will be responsible for the clinical evaluation and treatment of clients to promote health and well-being. In this position you will supervise medical and/or nursing care services as prescribed by the physician. You will provide consultation to the program in regulation interpretation and in pursuing the optimal level of health care services available. You will work in coordination with the Manager of Nursing Services.
What you your day to day looks like: Nurse Consultant:
• Establishes medical guidelines with the medical director in accordance with facility values and applicable regulations.
• Provide inclusive instruction and training to associates, ensuring diverse and equitable approaches in the delivery and monitoring of client health care/needs.
• Provides clinical oversight to Nurse Consultant LPNs when Manager, Nursing Services is unavailable.
• Provides input to the client conferences as needed. Ensures each client receives optimal medical services.
• Monitors medication processes for all clients which includes but is not limited to:
• Medication side effects
• Teaching & training of associates in a supportive and inclusive environment
• Auditing medications sheets
• Auditing the documentation on MARs and TARs
• Ensuring medications are stored correctly
• Auditing/monitoring and destroying controlled substances with appropriate staff person
• Communicates health care coordination with other staff and professionals involved in each client’s care.
• Intercedes with physicians when needed to insure coordination of client health care and communication.
• Provides on-call coverage on a rotating basis, in addition to assigned caseload.
• Ensures documentation of Nurse Consultant intervention with client health care.
• Coordinates client medical needs in accordance with state and federal ICF/ID regulations.
• Performs other duties as may be assigned.
What you bring to the table: Nurse Consultant
• Must have a minimum of a Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) degree from an accredited college or university
• Current license to practice from the Indiana State Board of Registration for Licensed Practical Nurses
