
Nurse Educator and Registered Nurse in Sioux Falls, SD
Job Description
We are looking for a passionate and qualified Nurse Educator to enhance the care and education provided to our participants. This vital role will help ensure that health needs are effectively addressed, promoting a path towards greater independence.
Key Responsibilities:
• Interdisciplinary Team Collaboration:
• Serve as a pivotal member of each participant's interdisciplinary team.
• Conduct necessary medical assessments in compliance with team and accreditation standards.
• Participant Health Management:
• Document and address each participant's health needs according to their Individual Service Plan.
• Support staff in making informed decisions on medical needs and referrals to physicians.
• Accompany participants to complex medical appointments, review results, and provide staff with clear instructions.
• Complete 24-hour nursing assessments for participants.
• Administer medications and medical care as prescribed by physicians.
• Keep medication and immunization histories updated for each participant.
• Educate participants about health care and sexuality to foster independence.
• Review and approve objectives for teaching Self-Administration of Medications prior to implementation.
• Medication Management:
• Collaborate with a consultant pharmacist to ensure participants' medication needs are met.
• Place and verify medication orders promptly.
• Guarantee that all required medications are on hand for administration, along with side effect information.
• Prepare and review the Medication Administration Record (MAR) for the next month.
• Conduct checks on MARs, medication bubble packs, and bottles for accuracy.
• Oversee the agency's pharmacy services.
• Ensure the availability of over-the-counter medications and first aid supplies; conduct weekly inspections of medication carts.
Qualifications:
• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Prior experience in a related role is preferred.
• Strong understanding of medical and nursing practices.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
• Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Dedicated to participant education and health management.
