Nurse Extern – Behavioral Health/Psychiatry – Day/Evenings – Rotating shift
Our Summer Nurse Extern program provides an opportunity for 3rd year nursing students to gain experience in an inpatient behavioral health setting. You’ll ensure excellence in patient care under the direct supervision of a Staff Nurse on our culturally sensitive, patient-centered units such as Women’s Health Unit, a NIMH-funded Eating Disorders Program, dual diagnosis, Geriatrics, Child and Adolescent units and a groundbreaking Kosher Unit for specific spiritual and dietary needs, and other premier programs.

This is a full-time, nine-week program from June 1st, 2026 - August 2026 on a rotating schedule of day and evening, Monday through Friday (7:00 am - 11:30 pm) including weekend (Sat+ Sun) shifts at our NewYork - Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health in White Plains, NY.
Preferred Criteria
• Interest in pursuing behavioral health nursing
Required Criteria
• A matriculated student in a baccalaureate nursing program who is within two semesters of completing the degree requirements
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Nursing Professional Development (NPD) orientation completion
