Job Summary
As an Assistant Nurse Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing patient care, guiding clinical personnel, and managing unit operations. This position involves ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective, patient-centered care while supporting the hospital's strategic objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Supervising daily operations within the department, including off-shift and weekend nursing supervision.
• Managing resources, quality improvement initiatives, payroll, and scheduling for nursing and non-licensed staff.
• Monitoring patient throughput to enhance clinical operations.
• Creating a safe, therapeutic environment by stepping into the role of staff RN when necessary.
• Participating in and leading Performance Improvement initiatives within the department.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required; Master's Degree preferred.
Experience: Minimum of two years of Critical Care RN experience and one year of supervisory experience preferred.
Licensure, Certification, Registration:
• Current Connecticut Registered Nurse license
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of hire
• Ability to secure department-specific certifications.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong knowledge of nursing principles and healthcare administration.
• Ability to make sound clinical assessments and collaborate effectively with the health team.
• Understanding of federal, state, and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Proven leadership skills with the capability to address change and conflict.
• Knowledge of high reliability organizations (HRO) and LEAN process improvement strategies.
• Strong problem-solving skills in fast-paced and emergency situations.
• Ability to foster an inclusive workplace that values diversity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
