Nurse Manager, Labor and Delivery - Family Birthing Center Full Time, Day Shift With more than 30 specialties from Cardiology and Neurosurgery to Orthopedics and Vascular care, Methodist Medical Center was one of the first hospitals in East Tennessee to offer cutting-edge treatments and technologies that benefit people with life-threatening aneurysms, severely damaged knee, hip and shoulder joints, sudden heart failure, and non-healing wounds. • 283 licensed beds • 25 ICU beds • 12 intermediate care beds • 38 emergency suites • 2 cath labs • 8 LDRP suites • Over 250 active and courtesy physicians • Over 800 employees Position Summary: Is accountable for the delivery of high quality nursing care and for the administrative management of the nursing unit on a 24-hour basis. Fulfills all duties and responsibilities associated with the Nurse Manager position. Responsibilities • Selects, trains, orients, develop and evaluate performance of the department staff. Ensures staffing mix and allocation in accordance with departmental guidelines. • Develops departmental budgets. Administers operations in accordance with budgeted parameters. • Maintains operational reports and records and collects statistical data for administrative and regulatory purposes. • Coordinates and reports outcome of nursing activities performed on behalf of the patient. • Establishes and maintains communication between the nursing unit, medical staff and ancillary departments for the purposes of problem solving and quality improvement. Utilizes appropriate lines of communication within the facility. • Ensures establishment and implementation of unit goals and objectives are in alignment with the facility and system. • Supervises, institutes, and evaluates nursing interventions and documentation. • Works collaboratively with other disciplines to ensure patient care is timely, efficient, and effective. • Facilitates professional development of staff with accountability for staff retention. • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested. Qualifications Minimum Education: Graduate of accredited nursing program required; possession of a bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field (required within 3 years in position or effective date of job description). Minimum Experience: Three (3) years of recent clinical experience. Two (2) years of leadership/managerial experience. LDRP experience highly preferred. Licensure Requirements: Current state registered nurse license.
