About this Job: This rewarding role combines clinical expertise with informatics to drive innovation and improvement in oncology patient care. As an Oncology Informaticist I, you will serve as a clinical educator, consultant, leader, and researcher, contributing to the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, evaluation, and training of information systems. You will be integral in enhancing processes and ensure alignment with MedStar Medical Group (MMG) and MedStar Health's strategic objectives. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Establish and maintain a therapeutic, safe environment that supports evidence-based clinical practice to achieve quality patient outcomes. • Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize patient care outcomes based on interdisciplinary care plans. • Act as a facilitator for state-of-the-art clinical care, implementing and evaluating new techniques and equipment for improved safety and cost-effectiveness. • Serve as a subject matter expert in health informatics, identifying clinicians' informational and technology requirements. • Evaluate and revise clinical information systems, ensuring they meet customer requirements and industry standards. • Analyze data to uncover patient care issues, developing programs and change processes to enhance clinical practice. • Develop and implement educational strategies to promote computer literacy and support new technology adoption in clinical settings. • Engage in teaching clinicians and healthcare professionals through both formal and informal educational activities. • Collaborate within interdisciplinary teams to integrate evidence-based practices and support organizational objectives. • Build and maintain effective relationships and partnerships to ensure quality patient care across the continuum. • Stay current with trends in Health Informatics through continuous professional development activities such as reading literature and attending conferences. • Act as the liaison for information system initiatives, promoting the adoption of clinical applications. • Conduct business process analysis and cost/benefit analysis to align IT solutions with business needs. • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, taking corrective actions when deficiencies occur. • Facilitate performance improvement planning and activities, documenting existing processes for ongoing improvement efforts. • Integrate evidence into all clinical informatics and educational activities, ensuring timely audits and action recommendations. • Participate in research, evidence-based practice, and performance improvement initiatives, collaborating on research studies. • Represent the department in community outreach efforts and participate in multidisciplinary quality teams. Minimal Qualifications: • Education: • Bachelor's degree required • Master's degree in Informatics or Information Management preferred • One year of relevant education may substitute for one year of required work experience. • Experience: • Three years of relevant informatics experience required • Preferred experience in systems analysis, customer service, information systems, or project management • Prior experience in an IS or clinical-related role is preferred • One year of relevant professional work experience may substitute for one year of required education. • Licenses and Certifications: Special certification registration or licensure preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, capable of addressing complex challenges and developing innovative solutions. • Proficient in negotiating and presenting information effectively to stakeholders within the Hospital. • Frequent interaction with patients and healthcare team members to foster collaboration. • Ability to work independently, exercising judgment when interpreting policies and developing procedures. This position offers a competitive salary range of USD $82,617.00 - USD $157,352.00 per year.
