Contract Oncology Nurse (RN)
Location: Palo Alto, CA

Pay Range: $54.25 – $82.00 per hour
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Oncology Nurse (RN) for a contract opportunity in Palo Alto, CA. This role provides hands-on, evidence-based nursing care to oncology patients in accordance with the California Nursing Practice Act, regulatory requirements, and established standards of care. The Oncology Nurse partners closely with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams to deliver high-quality, patient- and family-centered care across the continuum of treatment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide comprehensive nursing care using the full nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Deliver direct patient care to oncology patients, including monitoring for treatment response and adverse effects
• Create a supportive and healing environment by offering emotional support, education, and symptom management
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized plans of care
• Accurately assess and interpret clinical data and respond promptly to changes in patient condition
• Educate patients and families on disease processes, treatment plans, self-care, and symptom management
• Administer oncology treatments in compliance with safety standards and clinical guidelines
• Utilize clinical technology and electronic documentation systems effectively
• Support patient safety, regulatory compliance, and quality improvement initiatives
• Serve as a resource for peers through informal or formal teaching and collaboration
• Maintain professional licensure and ongoing clinical competency
Required Qualifications
• Active California RN license
• Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• ONS Chemotherapy Certification (required)
• Recent oncology nursing experience
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
Preferred Qualifications
• BSN from an accredited nursing program
• Outpatient oncology experience
• Experience working in a high-volume or specialty oncology setting

Pay Details: $54.25 to $82.00 per hour
