Oncology Registered Nurse - Independence, Missouri in Birmingham, MO

Provide patient-centered care on a busy 6th Floor Med-Surg/Oncology unit that supports both oncology and hospice patients, as well as hemodynamically stable patients requiring cardiac monitoring. This contract role offers the opportunity to apply your nursing expertise in a dynamic hospital setting while collaborating with a team of skilled healthcare professionals.

Location:

This position is based in Independence, MO, at a well-equipped main hospital serving a diverse patient population. Independence is a vibrant city blending small-town charm with urban amenities, offering convenient access to parks, cultural attractions, and dining options.

Responsibilities:
• Deliver nursing care to Med-Surg/Oncology patients, including hospice and cardiac-monitoring cases
• Perform wound vac changes, drain removal, IV/PICC line management, Foley and NG tube insertion/removal
• Collaborate with Clinical Care Coordinators, RNs, LPNs, PCTs, and unit secretaries to provide seamless care
• Utilize documentation system (Meditech) for accurate patient records
• Adhere to unit dress code and hospital guidelines
• Support the unit during every third weekend schedule (no on-call required)
• Float as needed to Med-Surg and Telemetry areas handling similar patient acuity

Qualifications:
• Current RN license with oncology nursing experience preferred
• BLS certification required
• Able to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a positive attitude
• Patient-centered approach to care
• Comfortable managing patients with cardiac monitoring equipment and Meditech documentation

Schedule:
• Every third weekend required
• No on-call duties
