
Oncology Registered Nurse - Kernersville, North Carolina in Kernersville, NC
Job Description
This opportunity seeks an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in Medical-Surgical Oncology to support patient care in a well-equipped, level 1 trauma teaching hospital. The role involves delivering compassionate, skilled nursing care primarily within a 20-bed oncology unit that manages a variety of patient types, including hematology, gynecologic, and surgical oncology cases.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform venipuncture, IV insertion, and central line access and care.
• Manage symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and mucositis.
• Provide wound and skin care while monitoring infection prevention protocols.
• Transfuse blood products and monitor relevant lab values.
• Collaborate with nursing assistants, unit secretaries, charge nurses, and respiratory therapists to ensure comprehensive patient support.
• Utilize electronic medical records and equipment including Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing systems, and Philips monitors.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in oncology nursing.
• Current RN licensure with BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications; OCN preferred.
• Proven skills in central line management and infection control.
• Ability to adapt to floating within the cancer center and other med-surg units as needed.
• Comfortable working day (06301900) or night (18300700) shifts with weekend rotation every other week.
• Flexibility to work approximately 75% of holidays and participate in up to 7 days of return-to-office during the 13-week contract.
