This specialized oncology nursing role offers unique opportunities to provide expert care and leadership on a unit focused on blood disorders and cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. The position involves managing complex treatments including chemotherapy, blood transfusions, and CAR T-cell therapies while mentoring staff and ensuring patient safety. Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team is essential to deliver optimal care to adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality inpatient oncology nursing care, including administration of chemotherapy and blood products
• Manage patient flow and daily unit operations, coordinating treatments and staffing effectively
• Mentor and support nursing staff to uphold clinical excellence and safety standards
• Monitor for oncologic emergencies and manage complications such as graft-versus-host disease and tumor lysis syndrome
• Utilize EPIC electronic health records for accurate documentation and communication
• Float to other areas as required and participate in weekend rotations (4 shifts per month)
Qualifications and Experience
• Current RN license with BLS, ACLS, and chemotherapy certification required
• Minimum 3 years oncology experience, hematology preferred; first-time travel nurses welcomed if experience criteria met
• Proficiency in inpatient oncology nursing and chemotherapy administration
• Preferred knowledge includes bone marrow transplant, immunotherapy, management of oncologic emergencies, and care for diverse cancer types
• Experience with central line care, infusion management, telemetry monitoring, and psychosocial/hospice care beneficial
