Position Highlights
Join our dedicated team at Avera Cancer Institute, where you'll play a crucial role in supporting patients and staff across our South Dakota locations. As an Oncology Registered Nurse, you will primarily work in infusion and provide essential care in the clinic. Please note that travel to various Avera Cancer Institute locations, including Mitchell, Yankton, Pierre, Aberdeen, and Sioux Falls, may be required based on patient needs.
You will be scheduled to provide care in infusion and clinic settings, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

A Brief Overview
Deliver exceptional nursing care through the assessment of patient needs, development of nursing diagnoses, and implementation of tailored care plans. You will provide comprehensive support—physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual—to patients and their families, educating them about their conditions, treatment options, and self-care skills. Continuous evaluation and adjustment of care plans based on patient progress is crucial.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver patient care by coordinating with healthcare teams and communicating effectively with patients and families.
• Develop personalized nursing care plans based on thorough assessments of medical histories and current conditions.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding health goals, medication instructions, and self-care techniques.
• Evaluate and document patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed to ensure optimal health outcomes.
• Maintain a safe and healthy patient care environment by adhering to all relevant regulations and protocols.
• Document care activities meticulously in patient and department records.
• Ensure patient care equipment is functioning properly and supplies are stocked and readily available.
Essential Qualifications
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice upon hire.
• Obtain ONS Fundamentals Provider Card or ONS Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Provider Card from the Oncology Nursing Society within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
• Previous experience in oncology nursing.
