A professional nursing opportunity is available for experienced Registered Nurses with a background in Medical-Surgical or Oncology care. This position is based in Wellsburg, WV, and is offered on a contract basis. Nurses with at least one year of experience are encouraged to apply, including first-time travelers seeking a new challenge. The role requires the ability to titrate specific drips (excluding cardiac drips) such as heparin, bumex, and lasix.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
• Active RN License and current BLS certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience; first-time travelers welcome.
• Experience working with common patient diagnoses including pneumonia, UTI, AMS, GI bleed, alcohol withdrawal, falls, and weakness.
• Ability to titrate IV drips as specified, with some exceptions.
• Completion or willingness to complete PCT class or existing CNA certification beneficial.
Responsibilities:
• Provide direct patient care including vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, and application of heart monitors.
• Assist with basic patient needs such as bathing, feeding, toileting, turning, and positioning.
• Collaborate with respiratory therapists who provide breathing treatments and manage respiratory equipment.
• Work within nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:5-7 during day shifts and 1:6-8 on nights.
• Participate in floating and shift pull rotations to support various medical-surgical and telemetry units.
• Adhere to scheduled shifts: primarily 12-hour nights, with weekends as scheduled and every other weekend required.
Schedule and Work Environment:
• 12-hour night shifts; weekend work every other weekend.
• Flexible to fill gaps in the permanent schedule.
• No call or standby requirements.
• Scrubs color-coded by role; orientation includes educator-led and preceptor days.
