Oncology Registered Nurse - Wheeling, WV in Bellaire, OH

An opportunity is available for registered nurses with med-surg and oncology experience to support patient care in a hospital setting in Wheeling, West Virginia. This contract role requires adaptable and compassionate professionals ready to work 12-hour night shifts, with weekends scheduled as needed. Key Responsibilities: • Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with diagnoses such as pneumonia, urinary tract infections, altered mental status, gastrointestinal bleeding, alcohol withdrawal, and falls/weakness. • Administer vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, EKGs, heart monitor applications, patient hygiene, feeding, toileting, and positioning. • Manage titratable intravenous drips including heparin, bumex, and lasix (cardiac drip titration is excluded). • Collaborate with respiratory therapists who manage breathing treatments and respiratory equipment; monitor patient respiratory status accordingly. • Assist in maintaining adherence to nurse-to-patient ratios, which average 1:5-7 on day shifts and 1:6-8 on nights. • Float and assist in other medical-surgical and telemetry units as needed, supporting patients with varying acuity. Qualifications: • Current RN license with at least one year of nursing experience. • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; ACLS preferred but not mandatory. • Willingness to undergo a patient care technician course or hold CNA credentials. • Ability to titrate certain drips under defined guidelines. • Flexibility to work rotating shifts including every other weekend and holiday rotations. • Clear licensing status must be declared during the application process.
