A dynamic opportunity is available for a registered nurse with robust operating room expertise in a Level I trauma acute care hospital setting. This contract role is based in Chatham, IL, and is perfect for experienced professionals who excel in a fast-paced surgical environment. The position requires a minimum of three years of operating room experience with a heavy emphasis on general surgery, trauma, and a variety of specialized procedures including neurology, orthopedics, plastic surgery, transplant, and urology cases.
Schedule and Shift Details:
• Four 10-hour day shifts per week (06:45 - 17:15)
• One weekend shift approximately once per month
• On-call responsibilities about once a week
• Block schedules are not accommodated
Key Qualifications and Skills:
• Active Illinois RN license or in application process
• BLS certification required; CNOR preferred
• Proficiency in Cerner charting system preferred
• Experience with critical cases, including Level I trauma, laparoscopic assisted surgeries, craniotomies, amputations, and emergency management including code response
• Familiarity with electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources, and Hana tables
• Strong knowledge of infection control, blood product administration, radiation safety, and universal protocol adherence
