OR Nurse (RN) - Chatham, Illinois in Chatham, IL

A contract Registered Nurse opportunity is available in an acute care hospital setting specializing in operating room care. This role requires a minimum of three years of RN experience in the operating room, including trauma and general surgery cases. The position is based in Chatham, IL, with a 3x12-hour day shift schedule covering Friday through Sunday from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM. Key Qualifications and Experience: • Active Illinois RN license or application in process • Minimum 3 years of operating room nursing experience (no first-timers) • BLS certification required; CNOR and CST preferred • Experience with Level I trauma care and a variety of surgery types including bariatric, general, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, urology, and trauma surgeries • Proficiency with Cerner charting system preferred • Familiarity with equipment such as electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources • Strong knowledge of emergency management, infection control, and blood product administration Responsibilities: • Support all service lines except cardiovascular surgery • Provide perioperative nursing care for complex surgical cases including laparoscopic, trauma, and microvascular procedures • Participate in emergency response and maintain adherence to hospital protocols such as infection control and universal time-out procedures • Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes • Occasionally float within the scope of skills, although this is rare • Be available for on-call duty approximately once weekly Work Environment and Benefits: • Acute Care Hospital with 562 staffed beds and Level I trauma center designation • Magnet-recognized facility fostering a professional, supportive environment • Provided scrub colors and required parking permit at no cost • Use of advanced technology and equipment in state-of-the-art operating rooms About Chatham, IL: Chatham offers a suburban environment with easy access to larger metropolitan areas.
