
OR Nurse (RN) - Houston, Texas in Houston, TX
Job Description
Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity is ideal for a registered nurse with specialized experience in cardiovascular operating rooms seeking a rewarding contract position in Houston, TX. The role focuses on delivering exceptional perioperative care in a busy surgical environment with a strong emphasis on cardiovascular procedures.
Responsibilities include:
• Performing and assisting with complex cardiovascular surgeries such as on-pump and off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), vascular bypass procedures, and carotid endarterectomy.
• Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team including circulators, surgical techs, anesthesia staff, and nurse techs to ensure seamless patient care.
• Maintaining accurate patient records using the Meditech electronic medical record system.
• Participating in call coverage Monday through Friday evenings with potential shift adjustments as the team expands.
Qualifications and desired experience:
• Active RN license with current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Minimum of 3 years recent experience specifically in cardiovascular OR nursing.
• Proven skills in managing on and off pump CABG procedures.
• Preferred candidates will have additional vascular surgery experience.
• Strong work ethic and ability to function as a team player in a fast-paced surgical setting.
Facility and Unit Overview:Join a specialized surgical department equipped with 11 operating rooms and a cystoscopy room located in a main building on the first floor. The team comprises 31 dedicated staff members working day shifts with no overnight shifts. Patient-to-nurse ratios of 1:1 enhance focused, individualized patient care.
