Job Description
A Registered Nurse (RN) with expertise in operating room nursing is needed to support a busy surgical team in Madison, WI. This contract opportunity involves working within a multidisciplinary team to deliver exceptional perioperative care and ensure efficient surgical case progression. The role focuses on complex cases involving ENT, eyes, and plastics surgeries, requiring familiarity with specialized procedures and equipment.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
• Minimum of two years acute care nursing experience within the last three years
• Current Wisconsin nursing license or a compact license from your permanent address state
• BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) only
• Prior operating room experience, particularly with procedures such as vitrectomy, open globe repair, abdominoplasty, DIEP flap breast reconstruction, cochlear implants, and radical neck dissection
• Comfortable using surgical equipment including Constellation, Straight Shot, liposuction devices, NIM, and advanced microscopes like Pentero and Leica

This assignment is at a prestigious academic hospital in Madison, WI, recognized as a Magnet-designated facility and routinely ranked as Wisconsins top hospital. Madison offers a vibrant city atmosphere with numerous cultural, educational, and outdoor recreational opportunities. The hospital is located at 600 Highland Ave, with convenient access via public transit and ample parking available through permits.
Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to plan and coordinate patient care in the operating room
• Facilitate efficient turnover between surgical cases, ensuring smooth operations
• Deliver safe, competent, patient- and family-centered care aligned with institutional policies
• Float between units as needed to address staffing demands across multiple departments
• Participate in weekday and weekend call rotations, including possible holiday coverage
Schedule/Hours:
• Day and evening shifts, 12-hour duration (06:40 19:10), Monday through Friday
