OR Registered Nurse | Ponchatoula, Louisiana in Ponchatoula, LA

A Registered Nurse with operating room expertise is needed to provide perioperative care during day shifts at a Level II Trauma Center in Ponchatoula, LA. This role involves circulating duties, patient assessments, collaboration with surgical and anesthesia teams, and maintaining a sterile environment according to AORN standards and hospital policies. Experience in a multi-specialty OR setting is essential. Schedule Options: • 3x12-hour shifts (6:15 AM – 6:45 PM) • 5x8-hour shifts (6:15 AM – 2:45 PM) Weekend and holiday coverage required, with 3-4 call shifts every 4 weeks. Candidates should be prepared to support the facility throughout Mardi Gras (2/13 – 2/22) with limited time-off requests during this period. Key Responsibilities: • Circulate and assess patients during surgical procedures across specialties including Orthopedics, Cardio Thoracic, ENT, Gynecology, Plastics, Vascular, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, Trauma, Urology, Neurosurgery, and Robotic procedures • Maintain a safe, sterile operating room environment • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary surgical teams • Adhere strictly to hospital policies and AORN standards Desired Qualifications: • Minimum 2 years operating room nursing experience • Trauma Level II experience preferred • Epic electronic medical record experience preferred • ACLS and BLS certifications required • Charge nurse experience preferred Additional Details: • Hospital provides scrubs • Weekend call and holiday shifts as needed About Ponchatoula, LA: Nestled in the heart of Louisiana, Ponchatoula offers a charming small-town atmosphere with rich cultural traditions and access to beautiful natural surroundings.
