Position Summary
Join our dynamic team as an Orthopedic Operating Room Nurse Circulator, where you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. We are seeking detail-oriented and proactive nurses who excel in anticipating the needs of surgical teams and ensuring the highest standards of patient safety in our state-of-the-art ambulatory orthopedic facility.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures in an outpatient environment.
• Act as a dedicated patient advocate throughout the perioperative experience.
• Perform vital circulating duties during orthopedic surgeries, ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols and sterile techniques.
• Verify patient identity, surgical site, and consent prior to procedures for maximum safety.
• Prepare, position, and closely monitor patients intraoperatively in collaboration with surgical and anesthesia teams.
• Ensure that all required equipment, instruments, and implants are available, functioning properly, and accurately documented.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical technicians for optimal case flow and turnover efficiency.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Adhere to infection control practices and meet regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives to help develop and implement best practices.
• Support colleagues in fostering a clean, safe, and orderly operating room environment.
Qualifications
• Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Utah.
• Certification: Current BLS certification is required; ACLS preferred. CNOR certification is an advantage.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of perioperative nursing experience; orthopedic and ambulatory surgery experience is highly preferred.
• Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
