Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Orthopedic Operating Room Nurse to join our ambulatory surgical team on a PRN basis. In this critical role, you will provide safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing orthopedic procedures. This position requires a proactive, detail-oriented nurse who is committed to patient safety and the seamless coordination of the surgical team.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout their surgical journey in an outpatient setting.
• Act as a dedicated patient advocate during the perioperative experience.
• Perform circulating duties in orthopedic surgeries, ensuring compliance with safety protocols and sterile techniques.
• Verify patient identity, surgical site, and consent prior to all procedures.
• Prepare, position, and monitor patients intraoperatively alongside surgical and anesthesia teams.
• Ensure availability and functionality of all necessary equipment, instruments, and implants.
• Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs to maintain optimal case flow.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Adhere to established infection control, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the evolution of best practices.
• Support colleagues in sustaining a clean, safe, and organized operating room environment.
Qualifications
• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Utah.
• Certification: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred. CNOR certification is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of perioperative nursing experience is required; experience in orthopedic and ambulatory surgery is strongly preferred.
• Skills: Exceptional communication, teamwork, and critical-thinking skills in a fast-paced environment.
