Position Summary
As an Orthopedic Operating Room Registered Nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional perioperative nursing care in our ambulatory orthopedic setting. We seek a proactive and detail-oriented nurse who excels at anticipating the needs of surgical teams while ensuring patient safety and optimal workflow.
Key Responsibilities
• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients before, during, and post-surgery in an outpatient environment.
• Act as a patient advocate throughout the entire perioperative experience.
• Perform circulating duties during orthopedic surgeries, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and sterile techniques.
• Confirm patient identity, surgical site, and consent prior to procedures.
• Prepare, position, and monitor patients during surgery in coordination with the surgical and anesthesia teams.
• Ensure all necessary equipment, instruments, and implants are prepared, functional, and accurately documented.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and surgical techs to promote efficient case flow and turnover.
• Maintain precise and timely charting within the electronic health record (EHR).
• Comply with infection control measures, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and assist in the establishment of best practices.
• Support colleagues in sustaining a clean, safe, and organized operating room environment.
Qualifications
• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Utah.
• Certification: Current BLS required; ACLS preferred. CNOR certification is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of perioperative nursing experience required; experience in orthopedic and ambulatory surgery is strongly preferred.
• Skills: Excellent communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills in a dynamic environment.
