PACU Registered Nurse HI in Hilo, HI

Nursing degree, active registered nurse (RN) license and minimum 1+ years RN experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. Provide expert care for patients in the post-anesthesia care unit, managing recovery phases and ensuring patient stability following surgery. This contract position is located in Hilo, HI, offering an opportunity to apply critical care nursing skills in a dynamic hospital environment. Qualifications & Experience: Minimum 2 years of critical care RN experience (ER, ICU) preferred as a substitute for PACU experience Valid professional nursing license for the State of Hawaii is required by the start of assignment Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification recommended and may be required Additional specialty certifications such as NIHSS and TNCC are preferred and may be necessary for specific roles Responsibilities: Provide care to patients in preoperative, Phase I, and Phase II recovery stages Monitor vital signs, incision sites, and patient condition closely, identifying complications promptly Utilize equipment including Meditech, PCA pumps, Pyxis, IV pumps, Cryocuff, SCD devices, warmers, and patient monitors effectively Maintain clear communication and accurate documentation Participate in on-call rotations as required (0-3 times per month) Schedule: Shifts vary with 8, 10, or 12-hour options Rotations include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Assignments may cover ASU and PACU units with no guaranteed shift preference Additional Requirements: Candidates must arrive the Thursday before the contract to attend employee health appointments on Friday Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start If not currently licensed in Hawaii, application for state licensure must be initiated upon offer acceptance About Hilo, HI: Experience life in the heart of Hawaiis lush landscapes and vibrant culture.
