This role focuses on providing skilled nursing care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) and the Universal Care Center (UCC), supporting both preoperative and postoperative patients. The position requires expertise in assessing, diagnosing, and treating surgical patients during their recovery from anesthesia, as well as assisting with pre-op and phase II post-op care. Location: This opportunity is based in Watertown, WI, with the primary worksite situated at a renowned regional hospital’s advanced healthcare center. Qualifications and Desired Experience: • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid Wisconsin nursing license or a compact license from your permanent state of residence • Minimum of two years acute care nursing experience within the last three years • Proven experience in PACU/recovery room nursing, including pre-op and phase II post-op assistance • Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records, ideally within the past 12 months • Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certification • Basic Arrhythmia and Telemetry experience; successful completion of a Telemetry test is required before starting Responsibilities: • Prepare and care for both inpatient and outpatient surgical patients before and after surgery in the UCC, including pain management and discharge education • Deliver clinical care in a 14-bed PACU, managing immediate post-anesthetic recovery • Assess patient conditions, develop nursing diagnoses, implement appropriate interventions, and evaluate patient progress • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care throughout the perioperative process • Adapt to floating assignments, which may include shifts across multiple units or locations as staffing needs dictate Additional Details: • Day shifts, Monday through Friday, primarily 8-hour and 10-hour shifts, scheduled between early morning and evening hours • Free onsite parking provided • Requires living within 50 miles of the assigned worksite • Contract assignment with flexibility to experience varied clinical settings This contract nursing assignment is ideal for RNs seeking to apply and expand their perioperative skills in a dynamic environment with a supportive clinical team.
